First Frets has helped thousands of students learn the guitar and ukulele! These online music lessons are a convenient, cost effective, and time saving resource for aspiring musicians. Students learn guitar or ukulele from the comfort of home: pre-recorded video courses allow students to learn on their own schedule, at their own pace. Our short, bite-sized lessons (most lessons are around 5 minutes long) take students from beginner to advanced. Our curriculum also includes lesson sheets, skills checklists, and completion certificates that can be printed and signed. After completing our courses, students have learned to: • Read and write chord sheets, song charts, chord diagrams, fretboard and scale diagrams. • Play the most important and common chords, chord progressions, strumming patterns, and rhythms. • Play advanced chords, chord progressions, and rhythms. • Play songs of various styles and genres. • Read and write tablature (TAB). • Read and write basic standard music notation, including rhythms and rhythmic notation. • Hear and know how to play by ear and improvise on their instrument. • Use and understand music theory, and apply it in practical ways. • Use advanced techniques, including bends, slides, vibrato, hammer-ons, pull-offs, fingerstyle technique, hybrid picking, flat picking. • Use common instrument implements such as: capo, tuner, string changing tool, metronome. • Much, much more… Because of the short lesson length, and our visual and learning supplements, our program also works for students with various learning challenges. Appropriate age range is 7 years old and up.
